How to determine if a fabric jam has occurred in an overflow dyeing machine

Jul 22, 2026

1. Observe fabric movement: Check the fabric through the machine's glass viewing port. If the fabric-normally circulating at a steady speed-suddenly stops moving and piles up motionless in the storage chamber, or if its speed slows significantly and localized tangling occurs, a fabric jam has likely taken place.
2. Check nozzle and return valve settings: If the nozzle diameter or return valve opening was not adjusted after switching fabric types, resulting in insufficient spray pressure or poor liquor return, the fabric can easily snag or jam. Inspecting the settings of these two components can help confirm the issue.
3. Monitor for abnormal equipment signals: An abnormal spike in circulation pump current or irregular fluctuations in internal pressure, accompanied by unusual equipment noise, indicates that the fabric is snagged within the piping or chute, resulting in a jam.
4. Consider fabric characteristics: Lightweight, high-density fabrics (such as Pongee or Polyester Taffeta) tend to float on the liquor surface for extended periods after loading. If full-overflow mode is not used to purge air bubbles, these fabrics are highly prone to tangling and jamming; such conditions require careful inspection and verification.
